Buckle up, buttercups, because it’s time to star-spangle your banners and pull out your grand old flags! The Spoleto Festival USA window display competition is back, and this year’s theme is—you guessed it—250 years of these United States.
Businesses across the Holy City will be busting out their red, white, and blue bunting to celebrate both our love of the performing arts and this country we call home. And at Fig Magazine, we truly can’t wait to see what in the Uncle Sam local business owners will create.
Planning to participate? Here are the details from our friends at Inskip Creative:
Who’s invited: All businesses within the City of Charleston
What you should do: Decorate your storefront in red, white, and blue and help celebrate the synergy between Spoleto Festival USA and the small businesses that make the Holy City thrive
Why you should do it: This partnership will drive visitors to participating businesses while amplifying the impact of this international festival of the performing arts—and celebrating Charleston’s role in the founding of our nation
Interested businesses—and really, why wouldn’t you be? This is just plain fun—must register online by May 15. Spoleto posters and decals, along with additional festival information, will be provided to each business. Windows must be complete by May 18, with winners announced on May 22. Every participating business will receive two tickets to a Spoleto-selected show, while the first-place winner will be gifted two tickets to any sold-out performance of their choosing. Judging will be based on originality, interpretation of the Americana theme, use of space, and craftsmanship.
Not a local business owner? That’s okay. You’ll likely be downtown for Spoleto Festival USA anyway. Take a moment to wander the streets and do a little window shopping. Feel good about being part of something big, beautiful, and celebratory. We could all use a moment like that.
