Sèchey Creates Space for Celebration—With or Without Alcohol

We’ve come a long way from a world where June Cleaver met Ward at the door each evening in kitten heels and pearls, cocktail in hand. Much has changed—families, partnerships, schedules, even the clothes we wear—but the longing for pause and ceremony remains. We still crave moments that feel intentional, beautiful, and shared. And when those moments call for celebration without alcohol, Sèchey on King Street offers something just as thoughtful, just as elegant.

“Sèchey was inspired by a simple but overlooked reality: the way we drink has changed, but the options—and the places to discover them—haven’t kept up,” says Sèchey’s founder, Emily Heintz. Case in point as we approach a new year: many of us embrace the idea of Dry January, but we struggle to enact it. We want to drink less alcohol, yet at the next party, we feel the absence of a cocktail in our hand. Often, it’s the ritual, flavor, and social connection we miss more than the buzz itself. This was the problem Heintz set out to solve.

“Our mission is to redefine modern drinking culture by making alcohol-free and functional beverages feel elevated, accessible, and socially inclusive,” says Heintz. She’s not talking Prohibition-era teetotalism. “Our goal instead is to normalize alcohol flexibility and give adults better options—without judgment or compromise.”

What will you find when you walk through the doors of Sèchey? A bright, sparkly retail space where shelves are lined with a full complement of alcohol-free wines, spirits, cocktails, functional beverages, and more, all supported by a staff that is 100 percent judgment-free. “We deeply value our sober and alcohol-free guests, and we’re equally here for people who still drink but want better options some of the time,” adds Heintz. “Sèchey is about inclusion, not identity. It’s a space where everyone belongs—whether they’re alcohol-free, sober-curious, or simply choosing something different tonight.”

In what feels like a real-life case of if you build it, they will come, Sèchey has seen that vision resonate since opening its doors in 2021. From devoted customers to enthusiastic investors and national-level partnerships, the response has been undeniable. Heintz couldn’t be prouder. “The heart of Sèchey is care—care for our customers, our partners, and the culture we’re helping shape,” she says.

In a world still learning how to slow down and be intentional, Sèchey offers more than a drink. It offers permission to choose differently, to savor the moment, and to celebrate in a way that feels both modern and deeply human.
