The Best Kind of S.N.O.B.

S.N.O.B. is deeply committed to sustainable local sourcing, partnering closely with Lowcountry farmers and the South Carolina "Good Catch" sustainable seafood program.

Slightly North of Broad (S.N.O.B.) is an upscale restaurant in Charleston’s historic French Quarter. Operating out of an airy, historic 18th-century brick warehouse, the restaurant merges fine dining with a high-energy, casual-chic bistro vibe. S.N.O.B. features one of Charleston’s first open-kitchen designs, white tablecloths, a rich interior color palette with chandeliers, and a full-service bar. Their name is a play on the area below Broad Street, commonly known as “South of Broad” (S.O.B.).

S.N.O.B. is deeply committed to sustainable local sourcing, partnering closely with Lowcountry farmers and the South Carolina “Good Catch” sustainable seafood program. Serving modern Southern and Lowcountry bistro fare, they were a pioneer of the Lowcountry farm-to-table movement, long before it became trendy. Their menus change daily to offer you the freshest ingredients, and if you appreciate knowing exactly where the food you’re eating was sourced, their website lists the South Carolina businesses where the food on your plate originated. Their famous complimentary cornbread is expertly crafted by Gerald “Big G” Henderson.

S.N.O.B. hosts live music in the evenings Sunday through Thursday. Check out the calendar on their website to find the genre you’re in the mood for, because their musicians cover the gamut. Artists who are interested in performing at S.N.O.B. are invited to apply on their website.

Many 5-star reviews offer variations on comments like, “The food was fabulous, and the atmosphere was top-notch.” They also mention the attentive and knowledgeable staff, who provide excellent recommendations and make special occasions feel celebrated.

Popular dishes according to reviews include Grilled Heritage Farm Pork Chop with caramelized blue cheese bread pudding, curly kale, sorghum mustard glaze; Local Shrimp and Grits with house sausage, country ham, tomatoes, green onions, garlic, and Marsh Hen Mill grits; Carolina BBQ Shrimp with celery root cream, BBQ butter, and a grilled baguette; Pan-seared Duck Breast with duck leg confit, French lentils, and à l’orange gastrique; Grass-fed Beef Carpaccio with red wine Dijon, parmesan cheese, and a grilled baguette; Charleston Cream of Crab Soup with sherry, mace, and chives; and their Grilled Allen Brothers Steaks.

But don’t just take our word for it. S.N.O.B. was recently ranked #7 in the entire United States in the “Hidden Gems” category of the 2026 Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Restaurants awards. If you’re looking for the ultimate date night spot, S.N.O.B. completely nails it.
